This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with others, explore your creativity, and build your confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment. Sewing has a wonderful way of uplifting and inspiring, and we hope to create a space where you feel welcome, encouraged, and proud of what you make.

### **What the Sewing Club offers:**

- **Beginner/Introductory Dressmaking:** Never sewn before? No problem! Start from scratch and learn the basics of dressmaking.

- **Intermediate Sewing & Dressmaking:** Already sewing? Deepen your skills and take on new projects with support from experienced tutors.

- **Redesign & Alteration:** Give your clothes a second life by learning simple and creative alteration techniques.

- **Sustainable Wardrobe Making:** Discover how to create a conscious, eco-friendly wardrobe.

- **Access to Patterns:** Browse our collection of over 100 women’s patterns, plus some for children.

- **Free Fabrics and tools:** You’ll have access to free materials from our fabric stash and all the necessary tools.

  We’ll also provide time for **socialising, exchanging ideas, and relaxing with your community** in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

- **What to bring:** Just yourself! We’ll provide everything else.

  **Dates & Sign-Up:**

  We’re keeping the club small — just max. **7 participants** — to ensure everyone receives personalised support. This also helps build strong group connections and encourages deeper learning.

The club will run in **6-week terms**, with a total of **4 terms**:

- **Term 1:** September 11 – October 23, 2025 *(no session on October 16 due to school holidays)*

- **Term 2:** November – mid-December 2025 *(exact dates to be announced)*

- **Term 3:** Mid-January – February 2026

- **Term 4:** March – mid-April 2026

  You can apply for the first term on our website, and if you’d like to continue, you’ll be given **priority for the next term** — simply let your tutor know that you wish to stay on. This system helps us offer the opportunity to more people and make the best use of all available spaces.

  If the class is full, please add your name to the waiting list. If a participant is unable to attend, we may contact you to offer their spot. You will also be notified before the next term begins.

If you are unable to attend, **please let us know as soon as possible** so we can offer your place to someone else. *(We plan to set up a WhatsApp group to make communication and absence reporting easy and smooth.)* We will maintain a **waiting list**, and may invite someone to join even for a single session — so your timely communication is essential.

Please note: **if you miss sessions without informing us**, you will lose your place for the following term. This project is funded, and your participation helps us demonstrate to our funders the positive impact we’re making in the community — which is essential for securing funding for future projects.

Love learning from Monika!  A lot to take in in 4 weeks - feel I've hardly started my garment!  Maybe some guidance about best to have your own sewing machine!  I do have but it's very old and doesn't really do what is required, eg zigzag stitch.  Will sign up for another course but that all adds to the cost of the garment.

A great course to get from idea/pattern to a finished product (or close to finished). The atmosphere is supportive and kind, and the tutors super knowledgeable so they can help at every level. 
My only suggestion would be to set up a course for complete beginners, with a basic garment and step-by-step instructions, as I sometimes found the more complex information overwhelming at my level. A little glossary of terms, to take home, would be helpful too - selvage, seam allowance etc :-)

Then our Sewing Machine Workshop is exactly what you need. This workshop is designed to walk you through the basics, build your confidence and get you started on the exciting journey of sewing! Do you want to learn more about sewing and mending clothing using a sewing machine? 

You could mend some of your items during the workshop or make a zip pouch to practice various sewing techniques.

-how to thread your machine, wind the bobbin, and change the needle

I had such an amazing time at my basic sewing skills lesson. The equipment used was perfect for a beginner and I walked away from it with the confidence to use my sewing machine at home (setup, settings and more). Not only was my instructor absolutely lovely and very patient, the class format meant I acquired the skills to work on a variety of tasks. In my class I walked away with a very cute large pencil holder (which I now use as a travel makeup bag) and also fixed two items I had brought in. Excellent! Does what it says in the tin, and more.
I only wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine to do simple hems.  I should point out that sewing machines have slightly intimidated me for decades so I would have been happy just to make the thing stitch straight lines.  But within no time our teacher had us all parctising our 'driving test' sewing backwards, forwards, changing direction and turning curves.  Then we were doing edges and zips and corners. Before I knew it we had all made a toiletries bag style zipped pouch.  Mine is a bit wonky, but I love it and I really surprsied at myself.  All this is down to the fantastic teacher who took care of every one of us, encouraging and guiding us every step of the way.  I would recommend the course to anyone wanting to learn this  incredibly useful, and sadly underrated, life skill. I'm now planning the course to attend.

If you’ve ever dreamed of the perfect skirt but could never find it in a shop, this workshop is for you!

Pattern drafting might sound technical – full of numbers and precision – but there’s no need to worry. With only three participants in the group, you’ll receive plenty of one-to-one guidance from our skilled and supportive tutor, Anika, who will make the process enjoyable, creative, and completely manageable, whatever your experience level.

This workshop is a brilliant introduction to the art of patternmaking and a great opportunity to learn how to create garments that truly fit – something no high street store can offer. You’ll learn how to draft your own skirt block based on your unique measurements, fit it to your body, and sew a stylish skirt that’s entirely yours.

In the first session, (17 of January, Satruday morning) we’ll focus on taking accurate measurements and drafting your personal skirt block. You’ll then cut your fabric at home using the pattern you’ve created. In the second session, we’ll come back together (24 of January, Satruday morning) to test the fit, make any adjustments, and sew your skirt with full support. We’ll also explore how you can use your skirt block to design a variety of other styles!

This is my third dress making course with the Remode Collective and I'm learning so much.  The smaller classes allow for everyone to work at their own pace, and Monika's excellent instruction makes the whole process very calm and stress free! 

The perfect course for developing your knowledge, confidence and skills in dress making from design to final outcome.  

This workshop is designed to quickly walk you through the basics, build your confidence and get you started on the exciting journey of sewing and mending!

Using a sewing box or sewing machine, easily creating new garments as well as mending or altering existing items is a sustainable and eco-friendly way of reducing garment waste and extending the life of our garments.

- introduction to sewing with the sewing machine
- looking at the different types of seams and finishing techniques
- how to make basic alterations and the hem
- introduction to mending: hand-sewing technics, dry felting, and many more.

If you have a special piece that you want to alter, redesign or repair, bring it with you and we will help you to achieve your goals.

This company has some very shady practices. I was looking forward to the course, but five days before I had to cancel due to family issues and a work trip. Any other similar programmes would allow you to reschedule and join a future course, seeing as you've already PAID for it. Not Remode Collective. I asked to join a course at the end of June, giving them a month's notice. They refused to confirm, saying they'll first see if the course gets filled, and then accommodate me if it doesn't. And by 'accommodate' they mean they'll let me know 'a few days before the course starts'. So they prioritise new customers over the ones who've already paid, but not received the service they paid for. They take your money and if you have to cancel within less than 10 days, you don't get a refund or the choice to attend a future course that suits you.

Great workshop in basic skills, which helped me finally pluck up the courage to get my new sewing machine out of plastic and start practicing stitches. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the Basic sewing class last night, Kerry was absolutely brilliant! Very fun and professional. I learned a lot of tips for mending my clothes and I would love to attend another class soon!

Cerri gave us an over view of different ways in which to repair various items of clothing to prevent them going to landfill. We covered different mending techniques, practiced a few key stitches. We each brought an item of clothing to obtain advice as to how to go about fixing. I took a wholly jumper. Which I have now completed repairing. Result, I will wear it proudly tomorrow! This was a brilliant course that gave me the basic skills I need to use a sewing machine.  Having only 4 people on the course meant the instructor had plenty of time to answer our questions and give us bespoke advice.

The course is super basic and packed with tips so really good for beginners. I already do a lot of hand stitching but it was nice to be officially taught so I don't feel like I'm free styling every 
project so much.

Really enjoyed this course - so much so , I'm hoping to sign up for the 4 week dressmaking course in the NY.  The instructor was very knowledgeable and I felt I took a lot of useful info away with me.  Nice class size (we should have been 5 but someone had to cancel so we were 4 which meant we had loads of time to ask questions etc).  Would definitely book with Remode again.

This is a great course if you want to learn the basics skills of how to use a machine and not just that,  you can bring an item to be repaired including hand sewing, the class is small so a lot of individual attention.  Annika was really good.
